What We Do
Gateway Psychology provides for the psychological needs of children, young people and families in the Stoke-on-Trent area and surrounding regions. Our aim is to facilitate each individual child's movement through the challenges or 'gateways' being faced at a particular time, whether emotional, behavioural, relational or developmental.
General Services
Our general services for children and young people include pre-school (0-5 years), primary school (5-10 years), secondary school (11-16 years) and college (17-19 years) ages. Taking into account the specific developmental and individual needs within each age group, we help with issues such as:
Depression
Anxiety
Fears and phobias
Confidence and self-esteem
Behavioural problems (e.g. defiance, school refusal, difficulties with sleeping and toileting)
Eating difficulties
Relationship difficulties
Trauma
Self-harm
Sexually harmful behaviour
Grief and loss
Adjustment to significant changes
Specialist Services
We provide a range of specialist services, targeting specific psychological needs of children and young people. These include working with young people in transition (particularly in the teenage years), gifted and talented children, parenting and systems surrounding the child and finally, children in the Care system (i.e. under the care of the Local Authority)
